Styled Wedding Shoot
How I decided who I wanted to help me set up my first styled shoot.
I’d been mentally planning a styled wedding shoot for my portfolio for months. Running ideas in my mind, creating a mood board, all the good stuff. When I picked the mood I wanted to go for, I thought of a person or people who represented the idea. I ended up choosing 2 people I went to high school / middle school with, Alyssa and Tucker. I wanted them to pass the idea of being able to be a ‘real’ couple, even though they’re not. Then I thought of the dress. I drive past a beautiful bridal shop on my way to and from work every single day, so I messaged the owner of the boutique Blushing Bride, Danielle. She happily agreed.
Then came flowers, these are a huge part because everything can look perfect, but if the flowers don’t fit the mood, then its all thrown off. I ended up messaging a small floral company that I followed on instagram, and turns out of the gals who is a designer there, went to high school with us too, The company is Leevon Floral!! Small world, huh? So i sent them ideas and they made the most beautiful arrangements. We also used a decor company who is run by my best friend’s older sister. She provided the arch, chairs, and other decor that she rents out to people having weddings, but don’t want to buy everything. That’s Danielle with The White Longhorn.
To top it all off, we needed perfect hair and makeup for our beautiful faux bride, so we went with Olivia with Spa Athena for hair, and she absolutely nailed my idea. I’ve worked with her and another company on a styled shoot before! Makeup was done by Kate, she is so sweet and SO talented. I explained what I wanted, didn’t really have a solid idea, and based on the mood board she created the PERFECT look. Stunning. The other Cait, lol, was the videographer. She and I actually met in a facebook group for photographers, and we knew we would be such good friends. We worked together so well, and it was absolutely awesome.
Basically, these images are created from all of our hands and hearts. We combined all our skills to create an amazing masterpiece. I hope you all think so too.
